Aims / Purposes

Computer Literacy (CL)

The purpose of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to:

1. Develop basic computer knowledge.

2. Understand the current development of Information Technology.

3. Develop problem solving skills.

4. Develop positive attitudes toward rapidly changing society and computer applications.

5. Establish positive Information Literacy.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

The purpose of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to:

1. Develop their knowledge in Computer System and Information Technology.

2. Solve daily life problem by applying the concepts and skills of computer and Information Technology.

3. Cultivate skills of problem-solving , critical thinking, communication and self-learning.

4. Evaluate the impacts of Computer and Information Technology towards the modern society.

5. Develop positive attitudes and values of using Computer and Information Technology.

Objectives

Computer Literacy (CL)

After completion of 3 years course, students should be able to :

1. Understand common computer terminologies.

2. Learn the knowledge of computer applications.

3. Use common application software packages to complete tasks.

4. Aware of social issues related to computer applications.

5. Appreciate the social progress brought by the popularity of computers.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

After the completion of 3 years course, students should be able to :

1. Understand what is information processing and how to effectively utilize common application software for information processing and information presentation.

2. Understand and apply the basic concept and skill of computer programming, and understand how to solve problems systematically.

3. Understand the issues brought by computer and information technology, and learn to provide their corresponding solution.

4. Grow deeper understanding towards the following elective modules and solve problems by applying their related knowledge:

A. Information Processing

B. Computer Systems Fundamentals

C. Internet and its Applications

D. Computational Thinking and Programming

E. Social Implications

5. Apply Database application to daily or commercial solution.

6. Basic application of Database Applications.
