HKCT Science Popularization Student Exchange Meeting –

"How to Become a Polar Expedition Team Member on the " Xue Long""

Dear Parents

The "Xue Long 2", carrying out China's 40th Antarctic expedition mission, visited Hong Kong on 8^th April and was open to the public for boarding visits. To enable high school students to have an in-depth understanding of the development achievements of the country’s polar scientific expeditions and to aspire them to become scientists, the Hong Kong Polytechnic Institute (HKCT) and the “Aerospace Safety and Human Factors Engineering Joint Laboratory” have established the Polar Scientific Explorers. As a starting point, a science popularization student exchange meeting of HKCT - "How to become a member of the polar expedition team on the ‘Xue Long’" will be organised. Different guests and representatives of the National Polar Expedition Reserve Team will share with students how to become polar expedition personnel. Participants can also have a direct look at the inside of the "Xue Long" and understand the work and living conditions of the polar scientific expedition team members.
