Implementing blended mode of learning & Mobile Computer Device for rental scheme (2023/24)

Dear Parents

Our school’s“Bring-Your-Own-Device” (BYOD) scheme (For S1 students, the scheme will be implemented during the 2^nd term this year). The scheme aims to promote self-learning within the school and strengthen the mobility of students’ learning. It also ensures students’ learning effectiveness in case when face-to-face classes cannot be fully resumed. Our school recommends that every student should own a personal mobile computer device and bring it back to school for learning purpose. The required device specification is listed in the attachment of this circular.

To alleviate the financial burden of students from low-income families, our school will carry out the “Mobile Computer Device for rental” scheme. Our school has joined the “Quality Education Fund e-Learning Funding Programme—Provision of Mobile Computer Devices and Internet Services Support” by the Education Bureau (EDB), to apply for funding for our school to purchase mobile computer devices for rental to needy students. The specification of the devices for loan is listed in the attachment of this circular.

You are only eligible for applying for the scheme under the following conditions:

(1)    You are receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) from the Social Welfare Department, or full/half grant of the School Textbook Assistance Scheme (STAS) from the Student Finance Office;

(2)    You should not have received similar government assistance before, including the CCF Assistance Programme and the “Quality Education Fund e-Learning Funding Programme—Provision of Mobile Computer Devices and Internet Services Support”;

(3)    You have received the assistance mentioned in (2) before, but your device has been used for more than three years AND is unable to operate/ is a non-iPadOS device.

If you are not eligible for applying for the scheme, we recommend you to purchase the required device through our school. Please refer to the attachment for the device specification. The purchase detail will be announced through school circular once it is available for order.

Please return the signed reply slip to the class teacher on or before 20^th November 2023 (Monday). If you would like to apply for the device rental scheme, please also submit a photocopy of the supporting documents (incl. CSSA / STAS).
