Highlights of the year

To promote teachers’ professional development, the English Department worked closely with the Quality School Improvement Programme (QSIP), the Chinese University of Hong Kong, this year to design some learning materials and enhance our teaching strategies to cater for learner diversity.

A wide range of English learning activities were organised to arouse students’ interest in exploring the fun of English learning, for example, Halloween Celebration Party, LAC Day lunchtime activities, and English Week.

TWGHs Joint School Cultural and English Learning Study Tour to Scotland 2024-25 was organised in April. 6 students from our school, alongside their peers from other TWGHs secondary schools, participated in a tour to discover the beauty and culture of the English world.

S1 Drama Education: 3 shows were performed at the hall assembly on 15th May 2025.

TWGHs Joint Secondary Schools English Camp 2025: 5 students and an English teacher participated in the camp in July 2025.

Aloha Magazine (Issue 20) will be released in August.

Inter-school competitions:

  • 14 students took part in the 76th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival (2024) (English Speech) and 9 students received Merit certificates.
  • 15 students participated in the Good People, Good Deeds: English Writing Competition 2024-2025.

Aims

  • Utilizing an eLearning platform to help consolidate students’ self-learning ability.
  • Enhancing the implementation of Language across the Curriculum (LAC) to help improve students’ English proficiency.
  • Empowering students through their multiple talents to promote a positive life.

Objectives

  • To enhance students’ interest and confidence in learning English.
  • To expose students to greater variety of authentic English materials.
  • To improve students’ English proficiency and learning skills.
  • To encourage students to take more initiative to learn English.
  • To develop students’ habits on note-taking, lesson preparation and revision.
